These used to be great, had the marrow inside. But the most recent batch I bought 2 months or so ago were cleaned out. I was shocked. My dogs loved the marrow but now look at it and don’t know what to do with it. Neither do I.

Our sheltie loves this item, she likes chewing so we gave it to her for bedtime, she will nibble if she wakes during the night and sneaks back to her bedroom to bring it out for daytime chews.
She managed to separate the marrow from the outside on one and chewed it all day. They are great lasting and one of the few things that she will chew and play with consistently.

I ordered three medium goat horns as I know how much our young Kelpie loves them. I was a bit disappointed to see that the three medium horns I paid for were actually 2 medium and 1 small. Otherwise the quality was great and much enjoyed.

Thanks for the feedback Kirsten, we only sell medium and large horns as the small ones we can source are under 12cm and we didn’t feel they were good value for money or would be that popular. The medium ones should be around 14-19cm but the odd one could be slightly smaller but that’s the spec our supplier has. If its much smaller please get in contact as it shouldn’t be and we can credit you.

The longest lasting treat i’ve found. My Ridgeback and Newfie both love them, and return to them frequently. They’ve been working on their current horns for a couple of weeks which is remarkable. Even the thickest of bully sticks last a maximum of one hour. Good quality and no significant smell.

I usually buy these from the farmers market and they last my girl a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, she consumed this one in less than an hour and it was roughly the same size. I am a little disappointed. I have been looking to buy these online as I cannot get them from the farmers market due to lockdown.

Hi Torri, generally there shouldn’t be much difference but as a natural product you can find some are more/less dense than others. You may have just gotten unlucky.

Lasts a very long time, keeps my Dutchie occupied.
She can only chew on it outside – because I don’t need the horn pieces on the carpet and the horn smells pretty bad when wet (rain or saliva)

Love these! After reading the reviews (or someone mentioned this in a dog group) I bought one for our cheeky Kelpie pup (now 14 weeks) and she’s been chewing at it for a few weeks.
Definitely a goer for something to keep them occupied without chewing other things.

I wonder if my boy is too young for the horn. He gave up on it quite quickly. I’ve left it knocking about in the yard, but he hasn’t given it much notice. I think he prefers a quick fix, rather than something he needs to work for. I’ll shelve this product, until he is older.

These goat horns are like a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle for our dogs. We bought a decent sized bag for our two (one small dog and one medium), it’s been a couple weeks and the dogs are still working their way through these with no end in sight! Interestingly the little one is making more headway than the bigger one. Maybe we have no sense of smell but we honestly barely smell these at all (I noticed other reviewers had commented on them having an odour). For dogs with more jaw strength I’d imagine these would be perfection. Our dogs like them but get bored/ tired so they chew on them intermittently.

I purchased the small goat horns with marrow. I feel they are probably a little large & tough for my 6kg terrier… that hasn’t stopped him from carting his goat horn with him everywhere he goes. He just doesn’t want to let it out of his sight! I’m going to cut them in half and try soaking to soften slightly for my boy, but my neighbour’s staffies loved a whole one each. Staffies have had theirs for three days & are about half way through them, so these are a great long lasting chew for dogs with strong bites.

I wasn’t sure my girl would like the horn. At first she sniffed it, licked it then ignored it. 10 minutes later she had it between her paws gnawing on it. Now it gets regular “work outs” and has even been found in bed. Long lasting, non-messy chewie. Will be buying more if she ever gets through the two we have. Recommended

My dog loves these and they last her about a month each (by then is it just a sad husk)! She’s not been a rough chewer so have had no issues with hurt or damaged teeth (though I know it depends on the dog).
She has one of these lying around the house at all times and always has a few chews on this each day.
Bet very impressed with how clean her teeth are.

So much more solid and long lasting then other goat horns because these ones a not hollow. Dog loves them and one will no doubt last weeks! Thanks for having something so long lasting and enticing that doesn’t need hoomans to be there to keep an eye on them in case of choking (like bone items).

My dog didn’t love these unfortunately. She is a new dog so just trying to discover what she likes. She doesn’t like antlers either so a dog that prefers softer food. However she does chew on them sometimes so they do help to entertain her and do some work on her teeth.

      Hi Robert,

I am sorry to hear you have had an issue with the goat horn. We have stocked this product for many years now and sold tens of thousands of them and have never had even a single reported issue. I spoke to our supplier and they ship hundreds of thousands of them. It is important to remember that just like humans can choke, accidents can happen even very rarely which is why supervision is recommended so like in this case, immediate support can be provided. I am glad to hear your dog is ok.

Our mini dachshund likes having a chew on it sometimes but I think he finds it a little frustrating that he’s not getting through enough of it. Unfortunately my 13 and 14 yr old Labs find them to hard to chew at all because they don’t have all their teeth, which I didn’t even think about when I got them one as well. I do love that they aren’t messy like bones though.

My Poodles used to bring sticks inside and leave bits all over the place. When they had bones they had to stay outside. Now with goat horns they do not strew chewed bits everywhere and they can have the horns inside cos they are clean, unlike the bones. A friend found her dog wasn’t interested but fixed that by getting my dogs to start the horns off. They’re wonderful for their teeth and wonderful entertainment.

Our boy once again is a clown and loves running around with it in his mouth, sporting a big Joker grin! When he finally settles down with it, he absolutely loves it. They both frequently return to it, it can last them a couple days to a week. Great value buying in bulk.

Had a horrific and upsetting experience with these! My bulldog loves the clear dog bully sticks and paddywhacks but 15 minutes into chewing a large goat horn, she managed to swallow a 5cm shard that had broken off. It scratched her throat and caused vomiting and severe bowel irritation for many days after. Incredibly unsafe!

      cleardog

Hi Anna, I am sorry to hear you have had a bad experience. Its the 1st issue we have ever had reported in our many years of selling them and we sell thousands and thosands of them. Occasional a dog might swallow or ‘inhale’ things at the earliest convenience and in most cases the worst you see is some irritation which passes.

i bought these based on teh reviews as I was looking for an all day chew for my kelpie’s other than shin bones. These are beyond anything I expected. The dogs skepticism was gone in about three minutes, and they have been on them since then…relentlessly.
If you have any doubts about this product, do not hesitate to try them. Similar one’s I’ve seen in shops are hollowed out, but these have the bone and cartledge in, and didn’t smell as bad as I was expecting. These are definitely my go to chew for my two dogs. One in particular that is obsessed with bones, and she’s even more obsessed with these. I reckon the large size is good enough, but I reckon if there was a jumbo size, I’d be all over those, too. But I can’t fault these large goat horns.

These are great for keen chewers. One of my kelpies is a really busy little thing and she really likes the goat horns, she’ll often go and pick one up for a chew instead of playing with the furniture so it’s a big win in my book.

My other two dogs are not that interested in goat horns, my elderly dog doesn’t have great teeth and my other dog is just not that into chewing. They’ll chew for a bit when they’re fresh out of the packet but lose interest after half an hour or so. Soaking them in stock makes them much more appealing and softens them up too so they go pretty quickly after that.

    • Add a review

      cleardog

Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for the great tip about soaking in stock. Its always a balancing act of finding a chew which lasts for a longer time but also keeps them interested. Generally the longer lasting you go you move to harder treats. Many dogs love to chew and love the horns but some (like our little Stanley) prefer faster gratification with a softer chewier treat and would give me some serious death stares if I presented him with a goat horn! Like humans, they are all different and thats why we love them :-).

A bit unsure about this. My dog fell in love with it on the first day and wouldn’t let it leave his side, even at bed time. After a week, he got a bit bored but still occasionally played “self-fetch” with it. I bought it to replace a twig because I didn’t like him ingesting wood but he still prefers the twig! But that’s not a reflection on the product which is an odourless goat horn of a decent size for my medium sized dog.

The goat horns were still good, but on this 2nd order they were NOT all the correct size! I ordered 25 large ones and about 1/3 were the smaller size and I had to take them off one Golden retriever and not give the others out as being so small they chew them too pieces too much and too quickly

Hi Chris, I am sorry if you did not receive all within the dimensions specified. As a bulk box of 25 we would have shipped you the box it came in from our supplier which should have all been above about 18cm. If this is not the case I can setup a return for these at our expense and replace with ones over this sizei I will also take it up with our supplier why smaller ones are being put in (as we are also paying for large)

I brought 2 large horns to test out on my Staffy pup who chews everything and make short work on the “toughest” chews. This is a bargain product, she and our 6yo Labrador have both had a good chew on it daily since we got it 2 months ago and it still looks like it did when I gave it to them (minus a few bits). My dogs love chewing goats horns. I found these to be excellent value for the price, in terms of size and how long they last. A month later and they’re still on the same horns (they got one each). While they are longer than horns purchased from other places, our small dogs love them and can handle them well. In fact I prefer that they are longer. It’s easier for the dogs to hold on to the horn when they’re chewing them. Also, these horns don’t seem to be as dry and break up into small pieces as goats horns I’ve purchased from other places. Will purchase again.
